Children's Ministries

Giving children a fun and safe place to grow spiritually is important to us. We want our kids to be as fulfilled with their church experience as you are, which is why we offer a wide variety of weekly programs designed to engage your children as they learn about what it means to follow Jesus.

For more information about a program or to register your child, email Joy, Director of Children's and Family Ministries, at jhayag@christumc.cc.

In place of Sunday school, children are invited to Junior Worship time on the last Sunday of every month (September through May). Here, kids help lead their own worship service, including the prayers, Bible readings, and songs.

Sunday School

Year-round Sunday School is offered during the 10:00 worship service. We provide your kids with a welcoming, child-centered environment that follows Safe Sanctuaries guidelines (see the bottom of this page), ensuring they have a safe place to learn and grow.

Our curriculum, Celebrate Wonder, guides children through engaging activities, spiritual lessons, and opportunities for reflection, giving them a safe space to ask questions and helping them claim their identity as children of God.

Note: There is no Sunday School on holidays.

Nursery Care

The nursery at Christ UMC exists to provide care of babies and toddlers during worship services. To register your child for nursery care, please email jhayag@christumc.cc.

Wednesday Night Programming

Wednesday night programming for children runs every year from September to May, and welcomes ages K-5th grade.

  • Joyful Noise Children's Choir

    5:00-5:30 pm

Kids are invited to the choir room (downstairs near the Great Hall) where Jody Warren, Director of Worship Arts, will lead the Joyful Noise Children’s Choir in learning and singing songs about Jesus. This group performs during the 10:00 worship service on the second Sunday of each month.

  • The Ministry Meal

    5:30-6:00 pm

The Ministry Meal welcomes children, families, and others attending Wednesday programming to the Great Hall for food and fellowship. Free-will offerings are appreciated from those who attend.

  • JAM

    6:00-7:00 PM

At JAM (Jesus And Me), kids learn how to be more like Jesus. Through stories, discussions, crafts, and games, we give examples of how we can apply these messages to our lives and interact with others like Jesus would.

Safe Sanctuaries

"SAFE SANCTUARIES IS AN OVERT EXPRESSION IN MAKING CONGREGATIONS SAFE PLACES WHERE CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND ELDERS MAY EXPERIENCE THE ABIDING LOVE OF GOD AND FELLOWSHIP WITHIN THE COMMUNITY OF FAITH." -UMC Discipleship Ministries (click the Safe Sanctuaries logo to learn more)

In establishing this Safe Sanctuaries Policy and Guidelines, we, as a Christian community of faith and a United Methodist congregation, demonstrate our commitment to conduct the ministry of the gospel in ways that assure the safety and spiritual growth of all vulnerable people, as well as those who work with them.
